Speaking: Part 1

IELTS Speaking 시험은 시험관과 1:1 인터뷰 형식으로 진행되며, 총 11~14분간 3개 Part로 진행됩니다. 그 중 Part1는 약 4-5분이 소요됩니다.  Part1에서는 시험관이 자기 소개를 하고 응시자의 신분증을 확인한 후 신상 등에 대한 친숙한 주제에 관하여 질문합니다.

Part1 Tip:

ü Try to improve your pronunciation, intonation and fluency.
ü talk to your examiner - however good your English, your examiner can only assess you on what you use
ü look at the examiner

û learn answers by heart

[Part1 예제 및 답변]

주제: Family
Useful vocabulary: relatives, relationship, to get on well with someone, to look like someone, to take after someone

How big is the average family in Korea?
Candidate: 4 or 5. There are only three in my family. I’m the only child but many Korean families have 2 or 3 children.

How often so you see your family members?
Candidate: Everyday. I still live with my parents so I see them almost everyday. I’m lucky that we get on really well with each other. As for my relatives, I see them maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

Are grandparents important in a family in your country? How?
Candidate: Yes, they are very important.  Many of them help look after their grandchildren. When I was a child, my grandmother picked me up from school everyday. I’m told I look like her.

How do you think the family structure will change in the future?
Candidate: I’m not too sure. I don’t think it’ll change very much. But someone was telling me that the Korean population is getting older and older. Young people don’t want to have families any more.
