A student’s answer (a strong candidate who could achieve Band 7)

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing in the connection to an article “Cities and War” in your August magazine this year.
I regret to inform you about the mistake I found in the article. Dominic Donne, the feature writer wrote that Volgograd was among those cities which had not been ruined much during the World War II. I definitely know that Volgograd was practically destroyed by terrible bombings. In fact all the city’s architecture had to be rebuilt. I often visit Volgograd during my summer holidays and know its history very well. The new architecture is very beautiful and there are also many war museums and memorials. I think almost every citizen of Volgograd suffered somehow from the war and they will be hurt in some way to learn the information in your article.
So, I would be grateful if you could write a special note in your next issue and correct this particular misinformation. Volgograd is loved by many people in our country and I think they will appreciate it f you admit your editorial mistake.
