General Training Writing Task 1

제너럴 트레이닝 Task 1에서는 어떤 문제에 답하거나 상황을 설명하는 편지글을 작성하여야 합니다. 150자 정도로 작성을 하셔야 하며, 150자는 대략 20줄 정도의 길이가 됩니다. 주어진 분량 보다 적게 작성하는 것은 피하셔야 하며, 20분 정도내에 작성하시는 것을 권장합니다.

다음의 전략을 참고하시면, 좋은 글쓰기가 될 수 있습니다.

3-part strategy:

1. Paragraph 1 <Introduction> --> explains the purpose of the letter

2. Paragraph 2/3/4 <Details> --> the body of the letter full of facts, information, ideas, opinions

3. Paragraph 4/5    <Conclusion> --> repeat main point / ask reader to contact you / say
                                     when you expect more information
                                     + suitable ending Yours faithfully /sincerely /Best wishes

다음은 유용한 표현입니다. 다양한 표현을 사용하면 좋은 글 쓰기가 될 수 있습니다

예제) 다음은 제너럴 트레이닝 모듈Task 1문제의 예 입니다.

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You rent a house through an agency. The heating system has stopped working. You phoned

the agency a week ago but it has still not been repaired.

Write a letter to the agency. In your letter

say when you moved into the house

explain the situation and

tell them what you want them to do about it

Write at least 150 words. Do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Sir or Madam,

답안 예제) 다음은 위 문제에 대한 답안입니다. 최고점은 아니지만, 보통 잘 써진 글쓰기라고 평가되는 예제입니다.

A possible answer

Dear Sir,

I am writing to ask if you are going to repair the heating system in my flat. It broke down nearly 10 days ago.

I have been renting a 2-bedroom flat from you at 11 Westbourne Terrace ( flat d ) since 11th March 2001, and everything has been fine until the heating system broke down on November 9th.

I called your office on November 10th and the person I spoke to told me that a plumber would come within 48 hours. Unfortunately, nobody has come. There has been no message on my answerphone, and my wife who doesn’t work in the afternoons says nobody has knocked on the door about the heating.

I want you to send someone as soon as possible, and I expect a phone call within 24 hours to tell me when they are coming. I hope to get a discount on the bill for this work as well.

Please reply as soon as possible. If it is quicker call me in the office on 0208-409-2176 between 8.30 am and 6.00 p.m.
